The region also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine. Typical local specialities include dakos (Cretan bread salad), kalitsounia (stuffed pastries), Cretan lamb with wild herbs, as well as high-quality olive oil and homemade raki. Medical care is provided by the General Hospital of Chania (approx. 15 km away). Chania International Airport (CHQ) is only approx. 9 km away and can therefore be easily reached in 15 minutes. The ferry port of Souda, with connections to Piraeus and other islands, is around 17 km away.
