Visitors are well advised to leave their cars at the gates of the city and explore it entirely on foot. A walk along the city wall, which is 3 km long, is a special experience. It still contains parts from the time when Cortona was founded. The city is located on a mountainside, so some particularly narrow, steep and winding paths lead through the centre.
