Cultural highlights of Maleme and the surrounding area include the Moni Gonias monastery in Kolimbari at the foot of the Rodopou peninsula, Polirrinia near Kissamos and the Agia Triada monastery on the Akrotiri peninsula. A visit to the oldest olive tree in the mountain village of Vouves is also well worth a trip.
