Description

The property is located on the edge of a small village, Vasiliki, surrounded by protected areas due to monuments of archaeological interest and can never be overdeveloped.

The sale includes the completion of a new house with 200 m2 of living space (plus a maximum of 200 m2 of basement) according to the existing plans. The property is located in an elevated position with magnificent views of the impressive Cha Gorge, the surrounding countryside and the sea.

It borders two quiet country roads, just a three-minute walk from the village of Vasiliki and three kilometres of paved road from the coastal village of Pachia Ammos with a long sandy beach, where there are taverns, supermarkets and public transport with regular timetables.
On the property there is a small olive grove, ~70 angelica plants and more than 400 wild caper plants.

The famous town of Agios Nikolaos is a 25-minute drive away. The town of Ierapetra, the largest southernmost town in Europe, located on the south coast of Crete, is a 15-minute drive away. It is the narrowest part of Crete. The distance between Pachia Ammos (north coast) and Ierapetra (south coast) is only 14 km! The international airport of Heraklion is 50 minutes away. Ierapetra, Agios Nikolaos and Heraklion offer fully organised public services/hospitals and the port of Heraklion offers daily car/passenger services to Piraeus-Athens and various islands.

Adjacent to the property, there is a new development of 2 luxurious and elegant country houses for sale on a plot of 2080 m2, at a price of 395,000 euros for house "A" and 135,000 euros for house "B".

Location

The harbour town of Pachia Ammos is located in the north-east of Crete on the Gulf of Mirabello, twenty kilometres east of Agios Nikolaos. Due to its location at the narrowest point of Crete, the Isthmus of Ierapetra, it has been a trading centre since the Bronze Age. Products were transported across the plain to the south coast. The present-day village was founded in the 19th century. Whether the Minoans also used this bay as a harbour remains unknown. The biggest attraction in Pachia Ammos is undoubtedly the excavations of the Minoan harbour and trading town of Gournia. The town, built on a hillside above the sea, was the urban centre of the region during the Bronze Age. It is said to have once had over a thousand inhabitants. Bronze Age harbour facilities, long-distance roads, necropolises and a dam have also been discovered. Pachia Ammos, with its beautiful sandy and pebble bay, is impressively situated at the foot of the Thripti Mountains. The wedge-shaped Cha Gorge offers a magnificent scenic backdrop to the village. A landscape that offers visitors beautiful walks and a wealth of history.
