Although Agios Nikolaos has less than 20,000 inhabitants, there are several banks, supermarkets, shops of all kinds, doctors, a modern hospital with high standards, a public swimming pool and tennis courts, a marina, a harbour, a cinema, a theatre, gyms, a 9-hole golf course, schools from nursery to 6-year secondary school and, in general, all the amenities you would expect in a modern European town.
The microclimate is one of the best in Greece, with moderate temperatures rarely rising above 30 degrees in summer and rarely falling below 15 degrees in winter. This wonderful dry climate, combined with the natural beauty of the area, has attracted most of Greece's top-class hotels to operate here.
