Located in the upper part of the small Cretan town of Neapoli, Agios Nikolaos, Lasithi, Crete, this is an old (1870) detached stone house on a large, fenced private plot of 1,300m2, which includes an unfinished guest house, a flower and tree garden and an olive grove with its own well.

The house is approx. 140m2 and consists of a large corridor connecting all the rooms of the house, a large living/dining room, a double bedroom with two large windows facing the garden, a bathroom, a reading room (large enough to be used as a 3rd bedroom), a kitchen and another double bedroom with large windows.
The floors and ceilings of the house are made of wood and were last renovated in 1980, but are in good condition. Next to the main house there is an unfinished guest house with one bed. It is also possible to build more on this property as it is located within the city limits.
In fact, it is possible to build up to 2655m2 on three floors with a floor area of up to 990 square metres (ground floor building). Neapoli is a small but very lively town, only a 10-minute drive from the tourist town of Agios Nikolaos in Crete.

The town has dozens of shops, restaurants, cafés and amenities, as well as a hospital. Heraklion International Airport is less than 30 minutes' drive from Neapolis. Agios Nikolaos is the capital of the Lasithi district and is located on the Mirabello Bay in the north-east of Crete.

Geographically, the town is well protected from strong winds, so you can enjoy water sports and swimming here almost all year round. Although Agios Nikolaos has less than 20,000 inhabitants, it has several banks, supermarkets, shops of all kinds, doctors, a modern hospital with high standards, a public swimming pool and tennis courts, a marina, a harbour, a cinema, a theatre, gyms, a 9-hole golf course, schools from nursery to 6-form secondary school and, in general, all the amenities you would expect in a modern European town.

The microclimate is one of the best in Greece, with moderate temperatures rarely rising above 30 degrees in summer and rarely falling below 15 degrees in winter. This wonderful dry climate, combined with the natural beauty of the area, has attracted most of Greece's top-class hotels to operate here.

Neapolis, one of the most beautiful towns in Crete, with its surroundings, the ancient Doric mountain town of Driros and the Selinari monastery in the gorge on the approach. The tranquil little town is practically in the middle of the lush, green Skafi basin on the Gulf of Mirabello and is still an important administrative centre for the region.
From here, it is only 35 km to the Lassithi Plateau and a short distance to Agios Nikolaos and Elounda on the Gulf of Mirabello or to Malia in the west, with all its contrasts. It is a friendly and peaceful place to stop off on the way to the Lassithi Plateau. Around the large, sleepy main square, where buses stop on their way to Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos, there is a post office, supermarkets, banks, taverns, a good pizzeria and kafinions.
