It is the oldest village in Crete with permanent and uninterrupted settlement since 4,700 BC, as evidenced by archaeological data and its 120 archaeological sites. Kavousi is located just 3.6 km (2.2 miles) south of Tholos Beach. The village offers great views of the Gulf of Mirabello and the Isthmus of Ierapetra.
