Although Agios Nikolaos has less than 20,000 inhabitants, it has several banks, supermarkets, shops of all kinds, doctors, a modern hospital with high standards, a public swimming pool and tennis courts, a marina, a harbour, a cinema, a theatre, gyms, a 9-hole golf course, schools from kindergartens to a 6-year high school and, in general, all the amenities you would expect in a modern European town.

The microclimate is one of the best in Greece, with moderate temperatures rarely exceeding 30°C in summer and rarely falling below 15°C in winter. This wonderfully dry climate, combined with the natural beauty of the area, has attracted most of Greece's high-class hotels to settle here.
